The monster bugs are visiting less and less. It looks as if we are winning the war.
We had a dance party in our house last night. Hope the neighbors don't mind. Thank goodness I brought Maria's iPod dock and that Brookstone flashlight - it has a flashing function that serves as our strobe light.
I finished my first week of teaching. It was difficult for some, but I think it went pretty well. My kids are adorable. I want to hug them all day.

I've sent out my first round of updates for what I'm calling "Prayer for Honduras." A number of friends and family from home have agreed to pray for one of my students this year. If you'd like to participate, let me know, and I'd be glad to send you updates on one my kids.

ReplyDeleteI had your class last year as third graders! I'm Melanie, or Mrs. Sebens as the kids know me. I love them so much and I'm happy to hear that they remember at least some of their English without practicing all summer! You are so lucky...they are such great kids and I miss them like crazy. I'd love to do "Prayer for Honduras" and you can send me updates on anyone who went to the school last year because I will be praying for them all, and for you, too. If I can request someone, though, I would request Jason, I think, for many reasons. I know you'll get pretty busy down there, but if you ever want anything from up here for the class, or want to set up pen pals (my husband teaches at an elementary school here in NC now), or seriously, anything at all, just let me know. Oh, and if I wanted to send a letter/care package to the class, could I send it to you to give to them? It would just be things like stickers or pencils, probably, and you could use them as bribes:). Oh, I have so much advice for you but I will hold back so you can discover it all yourself...don't wish any day of this year away because it will go by SO fast!! Please tell the kids hello for me, and I do have a little message for Lorean if you wouldn't mind passing it along privately to her...her mom's email address I have doesn't work...I've tried to email her but it wouldn't send. (I just don't want her to think I blew her off, poor thing!)
